Spring Into Reading

Home Journals and 100th Day projects coming home today!

Bring in a book to read each day next week for:
"STOP, DROP and READ"

Bring in USED BOOKS for the Spring School Book Fair
Our class could win a prize if we bring in the most used books for the Book Fair!

Hawkwood School's first ever Read-a-Thon is happening from March 7-15th!

It is designed to help stroke a love for reading and books in students. Handouts were sent home to highlight how the program works, including pledge sheets. See what your child can accomplish over a week focused on literacy at home!
Here's how it works:

1. Students secure pledges from friends and relatives anytime. Pledges can be noted on the tracking form included in the package sent home.

2. Students read as much as they can outside of school during the Read-a-Thon - ideally daily! - and keep track of the number of minutes read by filling in the details on the tracking sheet.

3. Tally up the total number of minutes read and collect pledge money from supporters. Place the pledges (cash or cheques made out to: Friends of Hawkwood School Society) with the tracking form in a sealed envelope marked "Read-a-Thon" and include your child's name and teacher's name.

The deadline for submitting pledges is Monday, March 16th. Good luck!
