Home Visits

Our published Class Story "Snowchildren At Night" is on it's way to YOUR home for one night!

Be on the look out for our special  book-bag holding our class story.
A student is bringing it home tonight!

We re-wrote the story and illustrated it as a class based on the book "Snowman At Night" by Caralyn and Mark Buehner.  We are so proud of it that we wanted to share it with you!

Home Reading:
If your child brings the class story home, that is your Home Reading for the night!  😋
Kindly read the book together, leave a positive response @ the back of the story and return the book the NEXT school day so that every student has a chance to celebrate it at home.

Curating a Class Museum

WHAT IS A MUSEUM?
WHAT ARE ARTIFACTS?

Thank you for all the amazing family artifacts, interviews and information cards that came in today.

We were able to share, celebrate and learn more about your family traditions, heritage and culture while celebrating the Past-our history.

It has been so exciting to see the level of pride, joy and knowledge the students have during our sharing circle.
We can't wait to post the pictures of our artifacts and finish setting up our class museum.
All artifacts will be coming home Thursday this week.

Today we sketched and labelled our family artifacts in our visual journals.

Thank you to Danica's Family for gifting us new bookmarks today for our Home Reading!

Family Artifacts/Interviews-The PAST

Look for our Home Journals coming home today with our spelling "No Excuse" words.  It is our January check-in and we are progressing with our sight words.  Some of us have even learned how to write our last names since our Autumn check-in.  Kindly write back a letter in our journal.

Social Studies Project: Look for the Family Interview and Artifact Project to help support our learning of the past, our heritage, our community and family traditions...
Calgary in the Past...
Today we looked at the following family artifacts and tried to guess what they were and what they were used for in the Past.  So many creative guesses!

Phone form 1900's

Washboard

Spectacles

Curling Iron

Lunch Pail
Next week we are so looking forward to sharing and building our Class Museum of Family Artifacts!

If your family artifact is too heavy for your child to carry to school, feel free to drop it off at the Office and we will pick it up for the Class Museum or send in a printed photograph of the artifact.
All artifacts will be returned next Friday following our Team Museum sharing.

Have a fantastic weekend enjoying the warm weather!

Lucy's Home Project

Thank you Lucy for teaching us all about CATS!
We loved learning from you all about cats and your kitty cat shirt was perfect for your Project.
The personal booklets you made for each of us was very appreciated!  The powerpoint you created was so informative and you sure knew your cat facts.  Many students made connections because of your amazing facts.
Thank you Lucy for being such a great cat expert and sharing your passion with us!

For those of you who are getting ready this week to celebrate the LUNAR NEW YEAR this weekend, we wish you all the best as you celebrate and prepare together with family and friends!
